  1. What is a custom WAM? How do I arrange for a custom WAM execution? Which markets in Yahoo SEA allows for such an execution?

    A custom WAM is a customised creative execution that allows advertisers to reach out to the audience in an attention grabbing fashion. The concept of such execution is that the creative content typically occupies a large area (770x560 pixels) on our Homepage and it may assimilate the existing page content allowing for ultra rich media capabilities (i.e. video / audio stream, 3D Graphics etc.) to be delivered in a highly engaging positive manner.

    If advertisers have a thematic creative concept in mind and would like to arrange for a custom WAM execution, advertisers can approach our respective local Yahoo representative for further details. From experience, we would strongly encourage advertisers to engage our Yahoo representatives early in the creative conceptualization stages, as this will expedite the process.

    The custom WAM is available only in Yahoo! Singapore, Yahoo! Malaysia, Yahoo! Thailand and Yahoo! Indonesia.

  2. Why is video streaming allowed only in some of Yahoo SEA markets?

    One of Yahoo!’s goals is to deliver total user satisfaction. As a result, Yahoo! has formulated strict standards and controls to ensure quality delivery of advertisements. As such, Yahoo! dictates the type of ad delivery that is in the best interest of both users and our advertisers. Having said, Yahoo! regularly monitors and improves ad delivery overtime to provide users with a better than before experience.

    Advertisers can approach our respective local Yahoo representative for further details on which markets allow video streaming.

  3. How do the different WAM banners appear on Yahoo! Front Pages?

    Currently there are 4 different types of WAM banner execution; Expandable WAM, Expando WAM, Floating WAM and Custom WAM. Each appearance differs intentionally and technically they respond differently.

    For instance, a Floating WAM is designed to draw the user’s attention. How it works is that the floating animation will appear upon complete display of Front Page. The floating element is allowed to hover over Front Page for an estimated 8 seconds before disappearing. The single differentiation is that the background for the floating animation has to be transparent and it is not clickable.

    A Custom WAM is similar to a Floating WAM except that its specifications are customised and do not conform to a Floating WAM.

    As for the Expando WAM, similarly, the expanded animation will appear upon complete display of Front Page. The initial auto-expansion will happen only once. Any subsequent expanded appearance will be initiated by users (liken to Floating WAM). The differentiating factor is that background of the expanded animation has to be opaque with a clear definite border. The expansion time for Expando WAM is relatively longer than Floating WAM.

    Finally, the expandable WAM, the expanded animation will appear upon user mouse over or click on. Like the Expando WAM, the background will have to be opaque and a border is required.

  4. Is the skinner clickable?

    No, the skinner is not clickable. The intended full-page static element serves to create mass awareness.

  5. Where can I find information with regards to having a border on creative borders?

  7. What if I am unsure or cannot adhere to the submission guidelines and timelines?

    In the event that you are unsure or unable to build the creative assets according to the Yahoo! Ad Specifications please contact your respective Yahoo representative early so that assistance can be rendered to ensure that the assets are produced accordingly.

    Likewise if you are unsure or unable to submit the approved creative assets according to the timeline stipulated, please contact your respective Yahoo representative early so that assistance can be rendered in time to ensure that arrangements are made to reschedule campaign start dates.

    Failure to adhere to Yahoo! Ad specifications or Submission Guidelines, will only result in delays in campaign execution.

  8. Do I still have to follow Yahoo’s specs if I am using 3rd party rich media vendors to serve my ads?

    All ads intended to run on Yahoo! properties must adhere to Yahoo! Ad Specifications regardless of how / where the ad will be hosted.
